I am so thankful for the rain- we have to remember that we are in a drought, and farmers need the water- some of them rely on rainfall completely for irrigation. Rain is good! Sucks, however, when you GET to run in the wod! (I try to use the word 'get' to instead of 'have' to....it shifts my attitude- I recommend anyone who does not practice this little diddy to try it sometime!
445- up and black coffee w/ stevia. 1B snack- hard boiled egg, 1c. raspberries, 1/2 tsp. almond butter. WOD was simple and elegant (uh, yeah) with AMRAP in 20 min: 400m run and jumping squats with the 45lb bar. All I wanted, let me tell you....but, oh so nice when you're done!
We were discussing blocks and such this am- I am trying something- going back and totaling my blocks every day, noting my mood/how I felt each day. I have come to the conclusion that 15B is about perfect for me- so I am not counting that 1B snack in the early am against my daily snacks, just adding it on, if you savvy. I think this will work well for me. We'll see. Also discussing the concept of increasing fats each day to boost energy levels/Crossfit performance...per Robb Wolf, the elite Crossfitters may/will increase their daliy fat intake (NOT carbs or protein, but just fat) as much as 5-10x I think...!! (will confirm)..this would be for those who feel they need a little more in order to improve performance, and is a pretty exciting concept to me!...I am going to be focusing on that a little. I still wrestle with the years of propaganda that fat is bad- but as Coach reminded us this am, it's SUGAR that is the enemy, not fat.
750-Breakfast-4B plus 1B fat- 1c. cottage cheese, 1/2c. blueberries, 2/3c. mandarins, 1c. raspberries, 1 TBS. slivered almonds, cinnamon. I just added 1B fat, 1/2 tsp. almond butter. I am adding slow....
Noon- Lunch- 4B plus 1B fat- 4 oz. chicken, 1B salad w/ rwv&EVOO, added 1c. artichokes, 1/4 c. chickpeas, 1/2 apple w/ 1 tsp. almond butter, extra 1/2 tsp. ab.
5PM- Snack- I think this is the first time ever I've gone a true 5hrs without eating. I did get a little hungry about an hour ago, but I wanted to stick it out until 5, since I know my supp won't be eaten until after 7:30...1B plus an extra fat block- hard boiled egg, 1/2 apple, 1 tsp. almond butter. Now that I see it on paper, maybe should not have doubled up on fat this time, since the eggie has some....oooops.
DinDin- 8:30ish...4B- a little late for me, but out of my hands tonight. Went to friends' house for din and had 6 oz. combo baked fish&scallops, 2 c. cooked squash, 1.5 c. green beans, 1B salad, and 1c. raspberries with 1TBS+1 tsp slivered almonds. No extra fat tonight.
Although din was late, I just had a snack of 1 oz. turkey, 1/2c. blueberries, 1/2 tsp. pb.
I have felt great all day, did get a little snacky around 11AM and then 4PM, but kept total to 15B.

good blog. i likey. yes: sugar is the enemy! not fat! i have to repeat that to myself as well. and every time i read a magazine blurb pushing something "healthy" that is low fat but kinda sugary, i think, "whom--who is lining your pockets?" there's usually an agenda. sooo....
ReplyDeletepulchritude means lovely, pretty, physical beauty. is one of my favorite latin-based words that i learned in the school of high.
yes, the pulchritudinous lass in purple in the old school photo ca. 1980 is me. note my shirt reads pack man. i clearly suffered from a lack of fashion sense in relation to socks throughout my youth. i will post an example today. the girl with the fro next to me is the kate, who may scold me for posting that picture.
i haven't quite figured out the block thing yet. am converting in phases. right now i'm focusng on eating the right foods in the right ratios in the right approximate amounts. and trying to get organized. am bad right now because i've yet to eat b-fast, tho i've only been up for 40 minutes, and my tummy is grumbling, but enuf w the book!
and yes, thank God for the rain for the farmers and vegetation and life in general. gotta support the farmers. go populists!

Nice job on the wod today! 6 was tough. It was one of those-"maybe its not so bad"- wods. I hate amrap anyway, I find it hard to pace myself and lose it at the end. I too have added an extra 1b snack in my day I think it is helping. I have body fat to get rid of as you dont, so I can see where this is so specific to everyone's needs. Keep it up, see ya soon. JB
ReplyDeleteGood Morn Sarah,
ReplyDeleteI agree... if we didn't have the rain for the farmers we wouldn't have all of the fresh fruits, veggies or grain fed stuff we need to be "in the Zone"... let it rain (besides my boys love the fact that they don't have to mow the lawn because of all the rain!) I did not do the Lasagna yet... saving it for the weekend as my boy Will loves to cook so he and I will be making it Sat. will let you know how it goes over with them tho. I have not e-mailed RW yet but will try to do it tonight. Like your "GET" advice gonna try thinking like that...
Forgot... thanks so much for the book... copied a bunch of recipes and the food block guide which is much better than the other esp. cuz its in alphabetical order!!! I did not make the 5 am this morn but have your book for you. I am going to do my WOD at open gym time tonight and will leave the book in a cubby for you.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah... how can I get mad at my sis for the photos when she is posting equally geeky ones of herself!
Hey Sarah, I will be there for FGB. I have not done it So I don't know what to set for a realistic goal. I guess finish and enjoy the pain will be my goal.
